Reiki

I’ve always been a big fan of Reiki and the healing effect it has on our health and wellbeing, so little wonder I followed my passion and became a Reiki Master. So, here, I thought I’d share my enthusiasm with you, to explain what Reiki is, how it works and how it may help you heal as you work your way through your break-up or divorce journey.

So, what is it exactly?

It’s a Japanese technique for spiritual healing, reducing stress and promoting relaxation and healing, by the ‘laying on of hands’.

The core belief is that we all have a life energy flowing through us. When that energy is high we feel confident and strong, are relaxed and less prone to sickness. Conversely, when it’s low we’re more likely to feel tired, become stressed and be less able to fight off illness.

In a Reiki session, therefore, I will increase your life energy by using my hands, lightly placing them on or near your body, around your head, shoulders, stomach and feet. You will feel very relaxed and a release of negative feelings or thoughts, helping to ease tension and stress. You’ll come out with a sense of healing on all levels, physical, mental and emotional.

What is it used to treat?

It is a great way to reduce stress and help relaxation and thereby promote your overall wellness. It doesn’t in itself cure illness or disease but it is a tool used alongside traditional medicine to facilitate healing.

Using Reiki through your break-up or divorce journey

So it’s probably becoming apparent that Reiki may help during a break-up or divorce, especially with your sense of wellbeing.

A technique that helps to relieve levels of stress during your break-up or divorce has got to be a good thing. Divorce stress can be overwhelming, presenting itself through financial fears, fears of the unknown, health issues, social concerns, feelings of failure and the like. Reiki can help to reduce and mitigate the effects of stress, help you to relax and think more clearly.

It’s often difficult to switch off from all the thoughts and fears whirling around your head during divorce but Reiki will help you to turn off that spiral of thoughts, focus, breathe and feel the life energy.

That same spiral of thoughts can disturb your sleep, sometimes leading to insomnia and exhaustion. Clients often report sleeping well the night after their treatment. We all know the difference a good night’s sleep makes, enabling us to deal with the daytime challenges.

Reiki helps to maintain an even, smoother life energy, so is a useful tool to avoid high, scattergun energy and the lows of exhaustion.

In the round, this all helps to create a much better mood and increased energy, vital to restoring your sense of wellbeing and emotional level-headedness.

And vitally, Reiki is cumulative, so every time you have a treatment you’ll feel better. Once you’ve had some Reiki sessions you can actually learn to self-practice, so you can actually do even a quick treatment on yourself on a daily or regular basis.

Reiki doesn’t harm and it doesn’t require a particular belief or religious practice so why not recharge your batteries and give a go.
